UbiOps: On-Premise AI Solutions for an Open Source and Data Conscious Future
The global landscape is changing rapidly and data sovereignty and security is becoming a top priority. This is especially true for organisations in government, healthcare, critical infrastructure, and anywhere else where data sensitivity is key. With increasing concerns over reliance on U.S. based cloud providers, UbiOps is offering an alternative that is built and based out of the Netherlands. Founded by a team with a rich entrepreneurial background, UbiOps specialises in helping vital organisations run AI solutions within their own environments.
Jorick Naber, COO/CFO and Co-founder at UbiOps has been a part of the startup ecosystem since his student days studying aerospace engineering in Delft. As part of the YES!Delft he founded a company that allows automatic luggage check-in at airports. After selling his company to another firm, he missed being around entrepreneurs and the entrepreneurial mindset. He eventually crossed paths with his now co-founder Yannick Maltha who had just started UbiOps (then called Dutch Analytics). UbiOps' powerful solution allows AI to be deployed within their client’s own data centers, allowing them to deploy AI securely and cost-effectively. They are doing more than just a simple AI deployment service, they are reducing organisation’s dependency on hyperscalers - i.e. large cloud providers - and ensuring that sensitive data stays within trusted borders. Jorick shared that “we have become more and more aware that we should be able to be maybe a little bit less dependent on USA hyperscalers, cloud providers, tech companies, and be able to build these capabilities ourselves.” UbiOps clients now include prestigious names such as the Dutch Cyber Security Center, the Netherlands' immigration services, banks, and the central IT department of the government. UbiOps’ platform often uses open-source alternatives to proprietary AI solutions, providing more control to organisations while safeguarding sensitive data. These organisations are now able to run an in-house, open source, AI alternative to ChatGPT, fully hosted in their own data centers.
UbiOps’ commitment to secure AI deployment led them to the HSD Campus, a hub for cybersecurity and innovation. Being a part of HSD Campus has enabled the company to align more closely with like-minded professionals and mature cybersecurity companies, fostering valuable collaboration opportunities. Their presence at HSD Campus also aligns with their focus on security, data sovereignty, and AI innovation, as they continue to build solutions for public and private sector clients. Jorick added that “ the good thing is, we already onboarded the first new customer from this community, Security Delta (HSD) themselves.” UbiOps is closely tied to multiple initiatives of The Hague focused on security and AI, and being at HSD Campus aligns them even closer to these organisations and missions.
UbiOps is looking to partner with more critical infrastructure organisations as well as business at large to integrate their AI on-premise deployments. They are looking forward to getting to know the rest of HSD Campus’ members and hope to work with even more community members in the future. Jorick even said that if, “you're considering putting AI in practice to make it work for your organisation, and you don't know where to start, or you are struggling, you don't have the resources or the capabilities, then give us a call, and we're more than happy to help.”
